Hero Glamour X Adds ABS+IBS Combo, A 125cc First

Hero MotoCorp has added a specific braking combination to the Glamour X 125 that no rival in its class currently matches — though it's worth being precise about what exactly is new here, since ABS itself has been available in this segment for a while. The new ABS variant is priced at Rs 1.01 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi, sitting at the top of the existing Glamour X lineup above the Drum and Disc brake versions.

What Makes This Combination Genuinely First-in-Segment

Here's the specific technical claim worth understanding. Hero isn't just adding ABS — it's pairing single-channel ABS with an Integrated Braking System (IBS), a combination the company says makes the Glamour X 125 the first motorcycle in India's 125cc segment to offer both together. ABS prevents the front wheel from locking during hard braking, while IBS links front and rear brake action to distribute stopping force more evenly across both wheels.

That distinction matters because ABS alone isn't new to this segment — the TVS Raider 125 and Honda CB125 Hornet already offer it, as does Hero's own Xtreme 125R. What's genuinely new here is the linked-brake system working alongside ABS specifically, rather than the two operating independently.

A Reasonable Premium for the Safety Upgrade

The ABS variant carries a premium of somewhere between Rs 4,164 and Rs 11,500 over the standard Disc Brake version, depending on which source's baseline pricing you reference — the Glamour X 125 range starts at Rs 88,517 for the base Drum Brake variant and Rs 96,836 for Disc Brake, both ex-showroom. Either way, that's a genuinely modest cost for anti-lock braking on a commuter motorcycle, a feature that's historically carried a steeper premium in this price bracket.

The Rest of the Package Stays Familiar

Hero hasn't touched the underlying mechanical package. The Glamour X continues with its 124.7cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine, producing 11.4hp at 8,250rpm and 10.5Nm at 6,500rpm, paired with a 5-speed gearbox. Suspension remains conventional telescopic front forks with twin rear shock absorbers, and the bike rides on 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in tubeless tyres.

Where the Glamour X Already Stood Out

The ABS addition builds on a bike that's already unusually feature-rich for its segment. Since its August 2025 launch, the Glamour X 125 has held the distinction of being the first 125cc motorcycle in India with cruise control — a genuinely rare feature at this price point, more commonly reserved for larger-displacement motorcycles. That's paired with three riding modes (Eco, Road, and Power), Ride-by-Wire throttle, a 4.2-inch full-colour instrument console supporting Bluetooth connectivity, turn-by-turn navigation, and call/SMS notifications.

Practical additions round out the package: a USB Type-C charging port, full LED lighting front and rear, dual under-seat storage compartments, and a Panic Brake Alert system that triggers rapid-flashing indicators during hard braking to warn following traffic.

New Colours Alongside the Safety Update

Hero has also expanded the colour palette with two new options — Gun Metal Grey and Matt Axis Grey — joining the existing Black Pearl Red and Black Teal Blue shades. The ABS variant is available across all four colourways.

Why This Matters for the 125cc Segment

The Glamour X ABS enters a genuinely competitive field, going up against the TVS Raider 125, Honda SP125, Honda CB125 Hornet, and Bajaj's recently updated Pulsar 125 — a segment we've covered extensively given Bajaj's own recent platform overhaul. Here's the part worth being accurate about: ABS is not a new feature to this class. TVS Raider 125, Honda CB125 Hornet, and Hero's own Xtreme 125R already offer it, and the Xtreme 125R even goes a step further with dual-channel ABS.

What Glamour X actually adds is the specific pairing of single-channel ABS with IBS together — a combination Hero says no other 125cc commuter currently offers. That's a narrower, more specific claim than "first with ABS," but a genuine one nonetheless, since most rivals in this class rely on either ABS or a combined braking system, not both working in tandem.

For buyers specifically prioritising braking safety in the 125cc commuter bracket, the Glamour X ABS now offers the most comprehensive braking package available in this class — a meaningful selling point in a segment where most buying decisions still come down to price and fuel efficiency rather than safety technology.
