Kawasaki Versys 900 Debuts With Radar Cruise Control

Kawasaki has revealed the Versys 900, a Z900-based sport tourer that slots between the Versys 650 and the Versys 1100 in its adventure-touring range. The bike comes in a standard and an SE version. The UK prices are 10,899 pounds and 11,799 pounds, and Kawasaki has not announced an India launch.

Engine and Chassis

The Versys 900 uses the Z900's 948cc inline-four, slightly de-tuned from the naked bike. Reports quote slightly different numbers, between 120bhp and 122bhp at 9,500rpm, with torque of about 97.3Nm at 8,000rpm, so we have not picked one figure. The gearbox is a six-speed unit with a slipper clutch and a bi-directional quickshifter.

The frame is a new steel trellis with an approximate 50:50 weight split. Suspension is a 43mm upside-down fork and a rear monoshock with rebound and preload adjustment. Both wheels are 17-inch and wear Metzeler Roadtec 01 tyres, with twin front discs, radial four-piston calipers and cornering ABS.

The Radar Package

The headline feature is a front and rear radar-based safety suite, which Visordown calls ARAS. Reports list these functions:

  1. Adaptive cruise control (described as the "Lite" version)
  2. Forward collision warning
  3. Blind-spot detection
  4. Emergency stop signal

BikeWale says both versions share the radar kit, while Rushlane does not say which version gets it. A 5-inch TFT, ride-by-wire throttle, traction control, a six-axis IMU and multiple riding modes complete the electronics.

The seat height is 825mm and adjusts to 845mm. A seven-position adjustable windscreen, a large seat and a rear luggage rack are standard. Kawasaki offers optional 32-litre panniers and a 47-litre top box. Weight and fuel tank capacity were not published in the sources we reviewed.

Standard vs SE

The SE adds LED fog lamps, heated grips, hand guards, a radiator guard, frame protectors and a centre stand. The standard bike comes in Metallic Spark Black and Pearl Robotic White. The SE comes in two colour schemes, one of them Plasma Lime Green with Metallic Spark Black.

What About India?

Rushlane calls an Indian launch "likely" but gives no date or price, and says an SE version is less likely. BikeWale carries a "March 2027" label and an Indian price starting around Rs 11 lakh, but it does not explain either, so we are not treating them as confirmed. Straight currency conversion of the UK price would put the bike well above the Z900's Rs 9.99 lakh ex-showroom price, and Indian pricing depends on local assembly and duties.

Why It Matters

Adaptive cruise control and blind-spot warning are still uncommon on motorcycles, so this is a notable safety step for a Kawasaki at this level. For Indian buyers the open questions are whether it will come at all and at what price. Check Kawasaki India for any launch announcement.
