Hyundai Launches Lounge Edition, Prices From Rs 19.21 Lakh

Hyundai Motor India has launched Lounge Edition variants across three of its bestselling SUVs — the Creta, Alcazar, and Creta Electric — built around a shared idea: rear-seat passengers get a considerably more premium experience than the standard trims offer. Prices start at Rs 19.21 lakh for the Creta and climb to Rs 25.22 lakh at the top of the Creta Electric range, all ex-showroom.

The Centrepiece: An 11.6-inch Rear Screen

Every Lounge Edition variant gets the same headline feature — a 29.46cm (11.6-inch) rear-seat entertainment display supporting OTT streaming, video playback, interactive gaming, phone mirroring, and app access through a certified app store. Hyundai has paired the screen with the existing eight-speaker Bose audio system already available on higher trims, rather than introducing new hardware for sound specifically.

That's a genuinely significant addition for a segment where rear-seat technology has typically lagged behind front-cabin infotainment. Giving second-row passengers a dedicated, full-featured entertainment screen — rather than just a phone-mirroring afterthought — signals Hyundai reading real demand for chauffeur-driven or family-focused use cases in this price bracket.

Creta Lounge: A Modest Premium Over Existing Trims

The Creta Lounge Edition is based on the King trim and offered with two powertrains: a 1.5-litre petrol with iVT automatic, priced at Rs 19.21-19.36 lakh depending on paint, and a 1.5-litre diesel automatic at Rs 20.30-20.45 lakh. That works out to roughly a Rs 53,000 premium over the standard King variant — a genuinely reasonable cost for the added rear-seat tech and styling package.

Visual changes include a new Golden Bronze colour option, black-painted skid plates, side-sill garnish, rear spoiler, roof rails, and C-pillar garnish, paired with 18-inch matte-black alloy wheels.

Alcazar Lounge: A Genuine Layout Change, Not Just Cosmetics

Here's where this update moves beyond a simple trim package. The Alcazar Lounge Edition converts the SUV's usual three-row layout into a dedicated five-seat configuration — a meaningful functional shift rather than a styling add-on. Based on the top Signature trim and offered exclusively with the 1.5-litre diesel automatic, it's priced at Rs 21.80-21.95 lakh, representing a Rs 71,000-90,000 premium over the standard six or seven-seat Signature variants.

For buyers who've never needed the third row and would rather maximise rear passenger space instead, this gives Hyundai a genuine differentiated offering within its own lineup — a choice most three-row SUV buyers don't typically get without switching to a completely different model.

Creta Electric Lounge: The Most Expensive, With EV-Specific Additions

The Creta Electric Lounge Edition, built on the Excellence Long Range variant with its 51.4kWh battery, is priced at Rs 24.34-25.22 lakh — a Rs 67,000 premium over the standard Excellence LR trim. Beyond the shared rear entertainment system, this variant adds a dashcam and a rear wireless charger, along with 17-inch black aero alloy wheels rather than the 18-inch units on the Creta and Alcazar.

No Mechanical Changes Anywhere

Worth being clear about what this update actually is: all three Lounge Editions carry over their respective powertrains completely unchanged. This is a feature and styling package layered onto existing, already-established variants — Hyundai isn't introducing new engines, new batteries, or new chassis tuning anywhere in this lineup. The value proposition rests entirely on the rear-seat experience and cosmetic differentiation.

Why This Launch Makes Sense Right Now

Rear-seat entertainment has become an increasingly common differentiator in India's premium SUV segment, particularly among buyers who use their vehicles for both personal driving and being chauffeured. By rolling this feature across three different powertrains and price points simultaneously — petrol, diesel, and electric — Hyundai is testing genuine demand for premium rear-seat experiences across its entire volume-driving SUV range, rather than restricting the concept to a single flagship model.

For buyers already considering the Creta, Alcazar, or Creta Electric, the Lounge Edition offers a relatively affordable way to add meaningful rear-passenger comfort without stepping up to a considerably pricier vehicle altogether.
