Ampere has refreshed its most premium electric scooter. The Nexus EX+ went on sale in the first week of October at Rs 1,29,999, with a second version carrying the Intellipack connectivity system at Rs 1,35,999. Both prices are ex-showroom, and the scooter is available at Ampere dealerships across India.
The launch comes from Greaves Electric Mobility, the same company that registered about 9,300 electric two-wheelers in September according to VAHAN data, so the brand is clearly pushing to move up the sales charts.
What Changes From the Earlier Nexus
The headline upgrade is the motor. The EX+ uses a 5kW unit that produces 202Nm of peak wheel torque. Ampere claims 0-40kph in 4.5 seconds. The company says the extra output helps on flyovers, hilly roads, pillion rides and when carrying a load, which is exactly where cheaper scooters tend to struggle.
The battery uses LFP (lithium iron phosphate) chemistry. Ampere rates it for a designed life of 2,00,000km and backs it with a warranty of five years or 75,000km. Greaves Electric Mobility Managing Director Vikas Singh described the scooter as an update that "enhances the EV platform with stronger performance and reliability."
The Intellipack Option
For an extra Rs 6,000, the Intellipack adds IoT connectivity through the Ampere Connect app. Ampere lists more than 30 features, including real-time charging status, live tracking, geo-fencing, turn-by-turn navigation, remote diagnostics, trip reports and a battery health score.
The scooter also ships with an IP65-rated charger, meaning it is built to resist dust and water jets. That matters in a country where plugging in during monsoon season is a real concern.
Colours and Availability
Two colours are on offer: Carbon Knight and Steel Grey. You can find your nearest dealer on Ampere's website.
What We Could Not Confirm
The sources we checked did not state a claimed range, top speed or charging time, so we are not guessing at them. These are the numbers most buyers care about, and you should ask the dealer for the certified range figure before booking.
How It Fits
At about Rs 1.30 lakh, the Nexus EX+ sits in the crowded space where TVS iQube, Bajaj Chetak and Ather Rizta already compete. Ampere is betting on a strong motor, battery longevity claims and a lower price tag than some rivals. Whether that is enough depends on real-world range and service quality, neither of which a launch announcement can prove.
