Volvo has launched the EX90 in India at an introductory price of Rs 1.26 crore (ex-showroom) on October 12. The all-electric flagship is sold in one fully loaded, six-seat version, and bookings are open now. Deliveries begin in January 2027, according to Telangana Today and evo India.
Price and Offer
The EX90 costs Rs 27.2 lakh more than the petrol XC90, which it replaces at the top of Volvo's India range. Customers who book before December 31, 2026 get an 11kW wall charger, a three-year service package and an assured buyback of 65 per cent of the car's value after three years. Evo India adds that test drives start in November 2026. Battery, Power and Range
- Battery: 106kWh.
- Motors: two, one per axle, with all-wheel drive.
- Output: about 456hp and 670Nm (evo India rounds the power to 450bhp).
- Performance: a claimed 0-100kmph in 5.5 seconds, with the top speed limited to 180kmph.
- Range: 625km on the WLTP cycle. Autocar India measured about 5.5km/kWh in its drive, which works out to roughly 580km in real use. Evo India's reviewer estimated around 500km in mixed driving, so the real figure depends on how and where you drive.
Charging
The 800V system accepts DC fast charging up to 350kW, and Volvo claims 10 to 80 per cent in 22 minutes under suitable conditions. An 11kW AC wall charger needs about 11 hours for a full charge. The car also supports bidirectional charging, according to evo India.
Space and Features
The EX90 has a 2,985mm wheelbase and comes on 21-inch wheels, with 210mm of ground clearance that rises to 250mm on the air suspension. Boot space is 324 litres with the third row up and 690 litres with it folded, plus a 46-litre frunk. Inside are a 14.5-inch touchscreen with Google built in, a 9-inch driver display, a 25-speaker Bowers & Wilkins audio system, four-zone climate control, a switchable-transparency panoramic roof, a 360-degree camera and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. One catch from Autocar India: the second-row captain's seats lack the electric adjustment, ventilation, heating and massage of the front seats.
Safety
The EX90 has nine airbags and an advanced driver-assistance suite with radar and cameras. Autocar India says no crash-test rating was given, so there is no independent score to cite.
The Rivals
Autocar India and Autocar Professional name the Mercedes-Benz EQS SUV 580 (Rs 1.49 crore) and the Kia EV9 (Rs 1.30 crore). The EX90 is priced below both. Telangana Today and evo India also list the BMW iX.
What About the ES90?
Volvo previewed the ES90 electric sedan at the launch. It has not given a price, specifications or an Indian launch schedule, so treat the sedan as a teaser.
Why It Matters
At Rs 1.26 crore, Volvo is pricing a three-row electric flagship below the established German option, and the 65 per cent buyback tries to calm resale worries. The wait until January for deliveries and the lack of a crash rating are the main caveats for buyers. See the range on Volvo Car India's website.
