Toyota Fortuner Leader Edition Launched at Rs 36.51 Lakh

Toyota Kirloskar Motor has launched the 2026 Fortuner Leader Edition, and it is a dressing-up job rather than a mechanical upgrade. Prices start at Rs 36.51 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 4x2 manual and go to Rs 38.72 lakh for the 4x2 automatic. Bookings open on October 12 through Toyota's website and dealerships.

One report puts the premium over the standard Fortuner at about Rs 1.11 lakh, though other outlets did not state it.

Prices

  1. Leader Edition 4x2 manual: Rs 36.51 lakh
  2. Leader Edition 4x2 automatic: Rs 38.72 lakh

The edition is offered only in 4x2 form. There is no 4x4 Leader Edition.

What Changes

Everything new is cosmetic. Outside, you get:

  1. A black grille and a bumper with black and silver trim
  2. Bonnet lettering
  3. 18-inch black alloy wheels
  4. A dual-tone black roof and black tailgate trim

Inside, there is dual-tone black and maroon upholstery with matching door trims, illuminated door sills and, new for 2026, ambient lighting. Auto-folding mirrors and tyre pressure monitoring continue from the earlier edition. Three colours are offered: Super White, Platinum White Pearl and Attitude Black. Silver has been dropped.

Engine and Gearbox

Nothing changes underneath. The 2.8-litre four-cylinder diesel makes about 204hp. Torque is 420Nm with the six-speed manual and 500Nm with the six-speed automatic.

Why This One Is Different

Earlier Leader Editions in 2024 and 2025 were dealer-level accessory options. This time Toyota is selling it as an official edition, which brings the full warranty package. That includes three years or 1,00,000km, extendable to five years or 2,20,000km, plus five years of roadside assistance. Finance options run up to seven years.

Sabari Manohar, Executive Vice President for Sales, Service and Used Car Business at Toyota Kirloskar Motor, said the update answers customers who want a more distinctive look and added convenience, while keeping the Fortuner's established strengths. Toyota says cumulative Fortuner sales have crossed 3.3 lakh units. More details are on Toyota India's website.

Is It Worth the Premium?

If you want the Fortuner's road presence in a darker, more custom look, with the factory warranty intact, this edition delivers it. If you care about mechanicals or four-wheel drive, nothing here changes the equation. Check how long the edition will be sold, since Toyota has not said.
