Range Rover has opened bookings for the Sport Electric in India, giving buyers a real reason to reserve one before knowing what it will actually cost. JLR has unveiled the first fully electric version of the Range Rover Sport alongside the booking window, with a full specification sheet already confirmed.
The Numbers JLR Has Locked In
Two electric motors and all-wheel drive combine for 550PS and 850Nm — the highest torque figure any Range Rover Sport has ever produced, and torque JLR says builds 50% faster than in the larger Range Rover Electric. That translates to 0-100kmph in 4.5 seconds through Dynamic Launch, or 0-96kmph in 4.3 seconds.
The battery is a 118.5kWh pack running through an 800V electrical architecture, supporting DC fast charging at up to 350kW. JLR's claimed range sits at up to 609km on the WLTP cycle.
Why This Matters Beyond One More Electric SUV
The Sport Electric joins the existing petrol, diesel and plug-in hybrid Range Rover Sport variants already sold in India — meaning JLR is now offering four distinct powertrain paths under a single nameplate, rather than positioning the EV as a separate, standalone model. That's a genuinely different approach than brands that launch an electric SUV as its own separate identity.
What's Confirmed, What Isn't
Here's the honest gap in this announcement. Every performance figure above comes directly from JLR's own numbers. What's missing entirely is price. Bookings are open, but with no cost attached, this is currently a reservation of interest rather than a purchase decision anyone can actually complete. JLR hasn't indicated when Indian pricing will follow.
Why Buyers Might Still Book Anyway
Limited-allocation flagship EVs from JLR have historically moved fast once pricing lands, and an early booking position can matter for delivery sequencing even before the final number is known. For buyers already committed to the Range Rover Sport nameplate and simply choosing a powertrain, booking now secures a place in the queue without any financial commitment beyond the token amount.
What Comes Next
Full Indian pricing, variant structure, and delivery timelines remain the pieces JLR still has to confirm. Until that happens, the Sport Electric's case rests entirely on the specification sheet — genuinely strong numbers, but numbers without a price tag attached yet.
